1. The examination shall be entirely internal. The teacher who offers the course shall frame the question paper and will be moderated by a moderation committee. Concerned teachers will look after the performance of the students. If a course is offered by more than one teacher, the setting of question paper and evaluation will be done jointly.

2. Scheme of Evaluation

  • Five (5) marks in each course shall be assigned to regularity in attendance.
  • Twenty Five (25) marks shall be assigned for Project Work, twenty (20) marks for written project and five (5) marks for viva, in each course. The assignment on a given problem shall be given by the teacher concerned at the beginning of the semester and students are expected to write the same with in the prescribed time frame. The modalities of the assignment including evaluation shall be decided by the teacher. The project assignment is intended to develop skills of inquiry, analysis, interpretation legal writing and critiquing.
  • Ten (10) marks shall be assigned for surprise tests to be held during each semester.
  • Ten (10) marks shall be assigned for mid-term examination.
  • Fifty (50) marks shall be assigned for end-semester examination of a comprehensive nature conducted at the end of the semester. The modalities of the question papers of the end – semester examination will be decided by the concerned teachers and informed to the students before hand.
  • A candidate should secure a minimum of 40% marks in each subject (i.e. 20 out of 50) in the end semester examination and an aggregate of 50 marks in each subject (i.e out of total 100 marks) to become eligible for a pass.
  • The evaluation procedure for the Seminar and Clinical courses shall be framed by the faculty.

3. The Performance of the students in all the courses shall be evaluated on an eight point scale with the corresponding grade values as follows:

A candidate to be successful has to obtain a minimum of 50% marks or the grade equivalent to i.e. B grade in every course. However, the candidate who fails to obtain the minimum grade (i.e. B grade) shall be given one more chance/examination to complete the course. The grade thus obtained will be announced and memorandum of marks will be issued.

4. The repeat examination will be held and results finalized within 15 days of the announcement of the respective semester result. The repeat examination is limited to end-semester only  and the marks obtained earlier for the remaining fifty (50) marks will be taken into consideration while determining the grade at the re-examination. The repeat examination shall be conducted only once and grade secured at the repeat examination shall carry letter “R” at the top.

5. Candidates who wish to better their performance in the end-semester may appear for improvement examination along with the next batch of candidates. However, in case of improvement examination the grade secured by the student at the improvement examination will be taken into consideration as the final grade and will carry the letter “I” at its top indicating that the grade was obtained after “Improvement Test” and will be recorded in the transcript.

6. Each student will be furnished with a transcript indicating the grades as obtained in different courses of the year along with CGPA at the end of IV year (8th Semester) on request and on payment of Rs. 500/-  for applying for merit scholarship .

7. An examination fee of Rs. 500/- shall be charged for every repeat or improvement examination (for each paper).

8. PROMOTION SCHEME
No candidate shall be promoted to the next higher class unless he/she has completed all the courses in a given year. However, a candidate who has failed in not more than two courses in a year may be promoted to the next higher class. Under such circumstances, the candidate has to re-register for the courses failed separately. A sum of Rs. 1000/- will be collected from such candidates in the second year. No Candidate will be promoted to the third year without passing all the first year courses. Similarly, this rule shall apply to all other promotions to next higher classes as well.

9. A student admitted to the Degree Programme shall have to pass all the prescribed and optional courses totaling fifty (50) within the maximum period of seven years from and including the year of admission in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree.

10. AWARD OF DEGREES
A student will be eligible for the award of B.A., LL.B (Hons.) Degree only when he has successfully completed all the prescribed 50 courses with a total of 180 credits and obtained a CGPA at 3.00 out of 8.00.

11. ATTENDANCE
Students of 5 year Integrated B.A.,LL.B shall put up 70% of attendance in each subject and 70% of attendance  in all the subjects put together. If a student falls short of 70% of attendance in any subject but has put up a minimum of 65% in that subject may be permitted to take end semester examinations at the discretion of the Vice-Chancellor on genuine grounds and on payment of condonation fee, provided he has put up 70% of attendance in all the subjects taken together.  (Refer to Bar Council of India Rules, Part –IV, Chapter II, Rule 12)

Those of the candidates whose attendance falls short of 70% will be detained and they will have to repeat the Semester again during the following year, by paying the requisite tuition and other annual fees.  They will, however, be exempted from payment of one time fees.

12. GENERAL   
No student shall be allowed to absent from taking any examination on the completion of the course excepting for reasons for which prior written permission shall be obtained from the Vice-Chancellor on a written request giving the reasons.

13.CUMULATIVE GRADE POINT AVERAGE (CGPA)
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is arrived at by dividing the sum of the products of Grade Values and the course credits in each course by the total number of credits in all the courses.
